New Bog Wood And Java Moss Advice!

hi guys two questions
1st: iv planted a net of java moss in my tank and its been growing well for a few months but lately its looking a bit brown :crazy:

any clues as to y.? its a 4ft tank,fx5 filter and not over populated.only thing i can suggest is the algae wafers iv been dropping onto it

2nd : iv just brought a really nice piece of bog wood for my tank but when i got it home and soaked it as i should i noticed it floats

not what i wanted! will it sink in a day or two as it gets heveyer and also whats the best way to get rid of the t bag colore.tonight will be the 2nd night its been under water and iv used a hot hose pipe on it twice and kettle water.it looks better 2nd time round but i like my water like it is now ,crystal clear!

1st question: Is the java under any direct light? under bright light they can develop brown/black patches; they tend to prefer patchy areas of light

2nd: try boiling it to get rid of tannins (though they can be good for your tank) and kill anything that might be lurking in the wood. As for the floating issue, it will sink once its fully saturated with water.

One suggestion could be fixing the java fern to the bogwood itself?? Done this in my tank and it looks wicked!

thanks mate. the moss is under the light so that could be the reason,when i put the big piece of wood in hopefully it will put a shadow over it a bit,and iv got quiet a big carpet of the moss grownig so hopefully it will grow up the wood in time..

also yes i will be pouring kettle water over it for a few days but any clues as to how long is recomended to get rid of most the tanning . i accept that i will get a bit but dont want much if i can help it,if any :good:
