Hey - I'm new to fishkeeping and have just purchased a Biorb 30L (Tropical)

Does anybody have any advice regarding cycling the tank before adding fish?
and if real or artificial plants are best in this type of aquarium?

Thanks for the help!

It's best to do a fishless cycle (articles on that are in the beginner's resource centre, link in my sig).

Plants tend not to do so well in biorbs because of the substrate/UG filtration, but plants that grow on rocks, like anubias or Java fern would be ok.

You will also find that you're very limited in what fish you can have; three or four male guppies or Endler's, or 6 or 8 microrasboras are really your only options; you can have snails or shrimp too though...

You should jump on your bike and cycle it back to the shop and get a propper rectangular tank with a decent filter. ;) Bi0rb hate is strong within me.
