Hello all

Check out my new betta in his cool new home

only thing thats worrying me a little is he seems to be lying down a lot the guy at the LFS said he was just chilling out he still gets up and goes for a swim around .... then lies down again!

Is he just being a lazy bugger?

Mine does that all the time but he is fine, and my LFS told me that they like to rest too.. esp by plants and that so i would say your betta is fine.

mabey his bowl is a bit cold, does he have any form of heating? you can do without a heater if the room temparture stays high all the time.
the laziness could be due to temprature, stress(settling in mabey), contaminates in the water( are you using a tap water conditioner? is there any chemicals used for cleaning or fragrance in the room?), needs a water change(in a small bowl like that with out a filter he will need a partial water change every couple of days)

some plants may help too, a sprig of comboba or hornwort or elodea would do nice, even java moss or java fern would no only look good, but give him a sence of srcurity (betta LOVE plants) some floating plants like ricca or duckweed would help too.

I've got a heat mat right underneath him which seems to be keeping the water at around 25 c so that should be fine I reckon

Not sure on what plants to add as I don't really want to put to much colour in the tank if you know what I mean?

yeh but a couple of plants wont do any harm, especialy floating plants, coz they dont need anything to root down into

yeah plants are always good, I like the skull but the bowl seems a little boring. Maybe get a thermomenter just to make sure the temps ok
