i recently had a new batch of platy fry

iv noticed that some of them just rest on leaves rather than actually swim, and i mean dont move unless my fingers go really near them?

could anyone give me any advice? please?

When they are first born, most will just go into hiding for a couple of days and some are just bold and just swim anywhere and everywhere.
Do you have any adult fish in the aquarium with them? If so then the fry might be just trying to stay away.

I agree with BlueGuppy. But if they are by themselves I would say maybe they are being over fed. Or the opposite, underfed. It also could be bad water conditions.

i dont specificly feed them, but enough food gets caught up in the riccia

there are adult fish in the tank...its a community

just was worried because some are really active and others just lay down on a leaf, the ones that lay down seem a bit paler too

If you have a nice big clump of riccia, there will be fry that survive. I find that when I feed flake, there is always that dusty bit that is part of what goes into the tank. That part of the food is fine enough for newborn livebearer fry to eat and grow bigger. If they miss that bit or it doesn't come along often enough, they will eat the micro-organisms that are always present in plants like java moss and riccia fluitans.

thanks, does anyone have any idea on what colour i might from them? because the father is a red tailed, neon blue platy, and the mother is a sunset

any thoughts?
