Hi all,
I have a 10 gallon tank and had 2 female, 1 male platy which were given a new home recently into a huge tank. In my tank now, I have 16 platy fry of all sizes which over the next few weeks will be given new homes. I do not want to make the same mistake again with a small tank like mine, it is not an ideal home for breeding fish. I will be getting more fish once the last of the fry have been re-homed and was hoping for some info on which fish I could have. I want a fish with personality that could live happy in my 10G tank, I'm used to doing regular water changes and have time on my hands. I have looked at puffers which seem adorable, but is there anything else that would suit me better????? or should I go with a puffer?? any advice would be greatly recieved.

if the tank is freshwater (not brackish) you could have some dwarf puffers in there.

Any idea of the exact puffer species you like the look of?

I have been reading up on puffers but none seem suitable for my tank other then the dwarf. When I called my local fish shop and pet smart they dont keep many puffers but both had figure8's which after googling found that my tank is too small. I was hoping for a bigger fish but want whats going to be happy and long lived in my tank. I have a bright room which is why (I think) I have so much algea on the glass, which I clean every few days, so I was hoping to put 3 otos in with a puffer. I read that otos are best kept in schools of 3 minimum and prob the only other species to be homed with puffers. I do not mind cleaning the algea if it means being able to house a bigger fish in a 10G tank. I like the look of all the puffers I have googled, man they are a cute fish, I like that they have teeth, a bit of brain, adorable faces and are a little bit naughty. I would be happy with what the experts advice. Expert advice does not come in the way of my local fish shops I have found!!
