Hello everyone,

So I started getting into aquariums with my son.  He wanted to save a sick Betta from one of the LFS that looked sick.  So he and I went home and did some research on what Betta needed to be healthy and set up properly, all I had ever seen was the tiny tea cup bowls for them.  Glad I looked everything up, I had never seen one in a tank with heater and filter.  Anyway the next day my son and I went back and bought a 10 gal. tank with all the accessories and had the shop hold the fish for us.  Through a friend of a friend I got some help cycling the tank with some media he brought over to speed things up.

That was about 6 months ago and the Betta is doing great, bright blue, his fins have grown full and has a deep purple/red on the tips of his bottom fins.  He lives with a couple zebra Danio and a mystery snail.

Since then I acquired a 30 gallon tall that I had for several months with live plants and a pair of GBR that have spawned several times.  I feel lucky in that I have only had one casualty thus far.  Sadly it was my male GBR and it happened right after I moved the last batch of eggs to a 10 gallon I had cycling for a fry tank.  Not sure what happened, I took him up to a fish doctor at one of the top rated LFS in the area and he could not give me a definitive answer as to what happened.

I recently upgraded to a 120 gallon tank that another friend of a friend broke down and needed out of his place.  It is up and cycling great and, so far, all my fish seem happy and healthy.
