Well I figured it was time for an upgrade. Saw a nice 5" x 2" x 18" tank on e.bay... Bid and won it.
Uhm.. don't you mean 5'x2'x18' (feet) as opposed to inches? I doubt a tank that size could support even a guppy. :p If it is feet, then WOW. That must be a big tank. Congratulations.
The room is only 16` long so it wouldn't be feet ...an understandable typo, considering the dimensions I think ;) 5' x 2' by 1.5' or 60" x 24" x 18". Nice!

Are you getting all those fish at once? seems like a few too many all in one go to me, even in that big a tank...

Also, kissing gouramis get to 12" so if you feel your tank's too small for 10" discus, don't get kissers. :)

have fun!

Yup sorry...lol  ..I did see that today myself.. its 60" x 24" x 18" 95 UK gallons
The cabinet need a bit of work, but the tanks in good nik

And no I won't be getting them at all at once... its just they are the ones I can get from the shop 10 mins down the road.. and the others will be a half hour trip away to a more specialist shop. I'll see what he has in and then buy according to the quality of his stock on the day.
I reckon about 4 - 6 weeks to introduce all the fish I want

12" kissing gouramis.. .. but thats long rather than round right?..hehe
but I guess that would be OK as they would be the only large fish in the aquarium and I think its big enough to take 2..or am I kidding myself again... :S  ;)

Any other big fish that would go well in a community aquarium?
I love the Rainbow fish by the way  will have to get some of them if I can find some local

Cool, just checking :)

Is the tank 18" high and 2' deep or the other way round? Cos the onyl problem I can see with the kissing gouramis is that they might no have room to turn round. Think about it...12" of fish...I would've thoguht they'd need at least2' and preferably 3' width to turn round in. But that's just my opinion, I havent actually read up on it. I did hear they can be a bit aggressive though.Have you thought about pearl gouramis? They get to 5" and are very pretty and peaceful. :)

Other slightly larger fish could include plecs, other catfish or...hmm. I dunno. what do you class as "big"?

Yes I think you're right.. its 2ft high and 18deep. Maybe pearl gouramis then.
:)
I bought 10 danios....
2 peppered cory...
2 ottos today... :)
Also another female guppie and female platy but they are in isolation tank.

I have on order 1 plec...either britle nose or butterfly..depends what he can get
and 4 rainbow fish.. for next week

Thw if water is still good..
6 neons and maybe 6 harlequins plus another couple of corys for the week after.

So that just leave a pair of larger fish... maybe the pearl gouramis..or something else that gets to about 5 -7" for a bit of size mid tank.

Any other suggestions.. I think that will about do it ? :dunno:

Have you thoguht about teh larger species of barb? Rosy barbs get to 5-6" , gold and odessa barbs to about 4".

I thought the barbs were aggressive fish?

I think I will go with the pearl gourami.. I know he can get them in at the local shop so I won't have to pay silly money for them. Also no traveling

Not all of them, and not so much when kept in schools

the (limited) research I've done on rosy barbs says they're very peaceful

either way, IMO pearl gouramis are prettier, so it's all good. get a male and a female if possible.

I will try... The guy seems to know what he's doing. He had a pair in today, that were awaiting collection. They did look very impressive fish :flex:

Thanks for all your help.. I appreciate it  :)

It's cool

We'd best see some pics of this new tank when it's stocked though. :) sounds like it's gonna be great.
