Ok so, MTS hit me hard and I am combining my tanks into one big 60. This means that this tank does already have some fish in it. It will planted pretty heavily and have 1 golden ram, 4 checkerboard barbs, one dwarf snowball pleco, and 3 cherry barbs as well as some Amazon shrimp. It will also be running with a sump of about 40 gallons. I want to know any community fish that you guys think would be a good addition to make the tank look full. I am also wondering if anyone thinks it is a good idea to make it into a community tank of mainly rams and how many rams would be best? I have only had tanks up to 20 gallons and I know that online has a lot of iffy information so I was hoping for people with experience to pitch in. I will add in a photo of my 20 gallon long as this one will probably have a similar style.

This is always kind of a tough question to answer. You really never know what's going to happen until you try it. (With the exception of the obvious no-nos) For example, barbs are known for being nippy so conventional wisdom is to avoid long finned or smaller species. Yet invariably someone will pipe up and say they've kept bettas or sailfins or whatever with them with no issue at all. I think your best bet is to come up with a list of fish that appeal to you and then see if they match the water parameters of the ones you've already got.

I know that's not what you wanted to hear, so I will make one suggestion because I love these things and as far as I'm concerned everyone should have at least a dozen: Misgurnus anguillicaudatus. (Dojo) Nope, their requirements are not the same as a cherry barbs but forget what you may have heard. They'll acclimate to a toilet bowl if they had to.
