so what do you guys think, I don't think I'm doing to bad for a guy that started keeping fish and growing plants about 4 months ago

Looks very nice :) can I suggest you get some CO2 in there ASAP you're at 5.5WPG and I think you'll have major algae problems if you don't.

Ummm. 110W/55G = 2 WPG. Still should have some CO2 though.

We will see but I actually think in this tank the pleco will be able to handle shop. Everyone told me that about my 20 gal and I have NEVER seen any alge so I donno???????

Sorry my bad, read 20G in the first post and got confused (note to self, read more carefully!)

Yeh 2WPG it is, although I'd still recommend CO2, if not to help stop the algae then to give the plants the opportunity to use the extra light they have, you'll get much better growth if you add some CO2 I would have thought.

Sam

I will believe you guys about the CO2 although I haven't used any in either of my tanks and I seem to have relly good growth and the plants all seem super healthy, I think for the time being I will go with the if it ain't broke don't fix it rule but thanks for the advice , if it wouldn't have been for the advice from these fourms I would still have fake plants, a skull bubble maker and blue gravel........rofl

I must confess to having 2.25WPG on my 20G high with very little algae, well before I even knew about CO2, but that could be due to the regular cleaning i gave it. The importance of large water changes in stopping algae is underestimated IMO.

Lovely tank, good plant choices and your angels are stunning. I agree about adding CO2, however. You really don't need much, probably a stable DIY would be enough. I inject CO2 into tanks with 1.4WPG. The result is no algae and very nice growth. I think it also enhances what you can grow in the tank. Because I inject, I can have some red species, which would normally not do well with my lack of light, but are boosted by the CO2. I also believe in water changes as well. Very important.

You have some anubias that I'm extremely jealous of. :-( I want them.

yea when I got the tank the guy I got it from gave me the anubias and the java ferns I was sooooooo happy becuase out here java fern costs about 10.00 per plant and the anubias are around 20.00 so alone the plants he gave me were worth about 160.00 and they both are very well estabulished.
