so i put my mature media in from my mature 240 litre setup i was breaking down and after putting the bogwood i had in i was ready for my initial stocking

so the bogwood i had looked far too small so i lucked out and found a guy locally who had just broke down a 7 bfoot tank so had some spare, £25 and 3 large pieces of bogwood later this is what its looking like as of this morning.

and this is the view from my sofa so watching tv is difficult now as i find my attention going to the fishes.

as you can see they are no plants yet but im hoping to sort that soon. any suggestions would be appreciated aswell as my plant knowledge is very limited.

Looks very nice so far :)

I'm no plant expert, but I find that vallis, java fern and cryptocorynes all do well with no extra care.

yes i have them in mind, need robust plant as i have a severum lol

He's used mature media from his previous tank, toshapetriji, so you don't have to panic ;)

Have you cycled the filter?

Maybe I´m missing something.

yes dont worry as alot of mature bio-rings have gone into the new filter. although im having slight ammonia readings so ive already done a water change so we will have to wait and see. to be fair though most of the big fish in there have been rehomed over last 2 months so i think they like there new homes compared to where they were. my parrots came from someones 125litre and my severum, frontosa sajilca? cichlids came from another 125litre. my sailfin is loving the space aswell, although i dont think hes found his "home" yet. what do other people use for theirs? hes nearly 10" and i find it hard to give him good shelter. believe it or not hes the reason i ordered a bigger tank. here he is in his new home.

:D

Good Job would be a pity to loose those fish.

im assuming you have got more than a 305 plugged into that tank?

Love your set-up though! have been looking at ND aq. quite a bit recently... but i can only squeeze a 4' tank in my allocated space, so i think 500L is out the door!

I can't recommend nd aquatic enough. Only ordered it 4weeks ago so quick aswell. They do r foot tanks with a deeper design of 30 inches aswell so 4x2x2.5 will be a big capacity. Their cabinets are top quality too, really nice pieces of furniture!.

There is a fluval fx5 filtering this so far so don't worry. Will be adding another external at a later date aswell.

bearing in mind i only put the fish in on sunday i had a surprise find tonight.

today i noticed my male bn plec hasnt moved all day. so i checked he was still alive and was shocked to see a large cluster of orange eggs. i had the pair in two seperate tanks and put them together wondering if they would pair but hadnt expected it to happen so soon. im a bit weary now because they are some biggish cichlids in there and i dont think the fry will have much hope. can anyone with any experience with bristlenoses give me any advice????

Think I'm just gonna let nature take its course with these. My time is full with setting up the tank they are in and my other tank without looking after fry.

Yeah let nature run its course, you never know, some may survive and thrive you never know :)

Gorgeous setup, how much was the tank and cabinet?

Tank and cabinet was £500 with the back glass blacked out. Paid £85 for t8 lighting then add the filtration u want. I'm very pleased with the set up.
