New 34L Tank! :)

Well, out with the little old 20litre black tank as my 2nd, in with the new one I purchased.

It's 34Litres with a head filter (just a spray bar over a sponge basically.

Will I be ok to just put the old filter sponge above the new one, as far as cycling? There's a single Platy in there at the moment that will be transferred.

Hi - I've never used one of those filters before so don't really know what they're like. If there isn't any compartment to put your old filter sponge in, I've read that slooshing your old filter media in the new tank will release some of the mature media into the tank (it might look a bit messy for a while until your new filter sucks it all up to the new sponge), which will soon begin to multiply when they receive their food supply of ammonia.


Someone else might have a better idea, though.

Here's a PIC - It's actually a 35Litre Will be able to add more fish to it in 4 weeks (guy at LFS recommended 4 weeks at least for even a mature filter to settle).

What do people think?

Still trying to think of exactly what else to add to it at the moment

P.S - The platy is the one that was being a total bully, lucky git (I wouldn't have purchased another tank if it wasn't for his antics!)

Hey there lol, ive got the same tank as you i have mine a while now, there a very good tank and i found myself having to buy a better filter tho lol and its going through the cycle as we speak

if you still have the manual can u check for me what size of bulbs are used in the tank cus my moonlight one broke thanks in advance and sorry for going off topic a little

There was no manual with it, just a card sheet with unbelievable rubbish instructions...

The filter is RUBBISH isn't it? I was pretty shocked and have another topic going on it at the moment.. I put a fluval 1+ in mine... it's ashame, because the style of the tank is actually great.

i found myself buying a fluval u series filter for mine, best one i could get for it lol

I ended up replacing the filter system with a Fluval internal on my tank like that too. I`m currently selling mine and will probably put the original 'gubbins' back in.

Must be that either the filter is crap or we`re just too fussy

ehh.. mine got clogged up with only the fishless cycle for some reason so i had to change it lol it is indeed crap lol
