Never Had This Problem Before

i thought it was a female at first
not once have i come across the stage when i cant decided if one of my fish is a male, female or later developing male, so thought id give you the task of helping me out
thought i had 2 females and 1 male but not sure now, heres some pics at different angles.

so im not going mad then no kidding last week when i got the 3 i would put my life on the line that there was 2 females.

i dont do stupid things like buy 2 males to 1 female

its now in a bag floating in the male tank and all the male platy have gone nuts trying to get to it, hoping its female coz its just spent a week in with all my females and im breeding true strains, BLAST IT!!!!!!

There is a a thing called XX male, geneticaly they female but either from hormone or some strange unknow factor they just devlope a gonopodium.

But if it dies for any reason get it to me as I'll check out if it has any testies or not


I've seen this many time's in trout as XX males are used to produce all female fry for farming and their a few signs i know to look for ro see if it a XX male or just a late developer.

Looks like a male to me, but it has a female body shape, i have only known swordtails to change from female to male, but they are almost never fertile.

ive only had it for a week but, as im such a fussy sod i wont buy a platy unless its in a tank with its own kind and i wont leave the LFS until i know that the fish that have been caught are the right sexes,(im one of those nightmare customers ) i spend my days with my head stuck to the side of the tank, observing everything, totally addicted you see this is happened over night, literally!!!!! i thought id just added a female to the male tank and vise versa but when i checked the male tank the fish in there was also male .

the difference between the male and female i have is obvious but this one is in between the 2, the XX male and XY females i know happens in humans, but if anything does happen to him/her then will pop him/her over. funny you mention the all female fry in trouts, the pair of sunset HFs i have have now produced 2 drops that are all female which is a shame as the males are far much prettier. i had a female up until last week that looked male but without the gonopodium but she went to a new home b/c she was proven to be infertile and was slightly aggressive towards the pregnant females. gunna leave it 2 weeks for the period im away and see what has happened to it on my return, if its preganant or not as its in with my males now as all my space tanks are being use for breeding as we speak and i cant afford to keep it in with the females any longer in case it is a male
