Never Ending Pregnancy

Hmmm my female platies are obviously pregnant (no suprise really) but since their first lot of fry I've only ever seen maybe two fry around the tank, what gets me is that both my females constantly look ready to drop but never seem to as they never slim down any more not even for a day. Is this normal? I never remember my first lot of platies (around ten years ago) remaining fat 24/7? I know they are definately pregers as I can see the eyes. How long can a platy remain pregnant? I'm sure it's been way over two maybe even three months since I last saw them slim down?

Normally they slim down at least a little, but sometimes the next batch is already growing, but still she would slim down at least a little every time. Maybe that is what it is, as soon as the first batch is out, the next is rearing to go.
