Nobby says you are to stop worrying about him,he is very happy and his new Mum loves him and his 10 brothers and 1 sister betta loads and loads! His new Mum has taken another photo of him, 5 minutes ago, so you can see what a clever boy he is. He is glad that she has taken that clicky thing away as he wants to eat his tea in peace. lol Sue and Nobby xx

nobby has become a little star in his own right. Nemo might have some comptition for favorite betta here.

Awwww thanks so much for the photos Sue :D . He obviously loves his new Mum loads by the look of that great big frothy nest :hyper: He's building better than my breeding males

He's a very lucky little boy and I'm so glad I didn't make the decision to euthanize him. He's got a great quality of life now.....which is how it was meant to be. He's a little star :good:

this ALMOST brought tears to my little eyes...and i am not sentimental.
how wonderful!!! ----and WHAT A NEST!
cute little nobby

I was wondering, if he is just stunted by enviormental problems not genetics. if he was old enough and very healthy and you used a very gentle female could you spawn him and have babies? or do you think that it would be too rough on him?

its times like this that lets people understand that the home grown bettas that arent perfect deserve as much right as any betta. This is why myself and netty/bronze dont cull our deformed or runt fry. You wouldnt find this in betta farms

I agree. I find homes for imperfect fish. fish are only culled if they are in pain, terminaly ill or the deformity prevents them from having any kind of a life.

Exactly.........we probably have about 4 at the moment from last years spawns that aren't able to be sold. They lead perfectly happy lives even though they have certain problems. I just feel that we have a responsibility to them as we are the ones that bred them. Then within about 30 mins of posting Nobby was offered a home with Liz which proves that there are people out their willing to take on these little ones that don't look as perfect as most.

This is why I get upset when people say they want to breed but will cull half the babies cos they don't have room for so many

i think that the oddities/deformities make them more endearing as pets...although id not breed them. ive had a gauntlet of pets with oddities/special needs over the years...i guess i just have a soft spot for the "different" ones?

LOL we also got a dog with Tourettes and an old one with alzheimers

awww. ive had 3 legged cats/dpgs, literally STOLE an abused cat from its owner (if thats wrong then....), rescued frogs, turtles, and now im on to rescuing bettas (which would be HORRIBLE for me if i had more space where i live)...currently i have two lovely boys and that's all i have room for im afraid...for now anyway...i saw a pathetic looking boy at my lfs today while buying more dechlor and i SOOOOO wanted to take him home (had stress stripes REALLY bad!!!)...but nothing suitable to put him in atm.

We got 2 cats, brother & sister, and they are like the neighbourhood villains  They have even attacked Staffies!
