I never actually considered using a breeding trap before; however, lately I've seen that they are pretty cheap and since it could take a little longer than I expected before I can get my breeding tank set up, I was wondering if anybody could give me some tips on breeding traps... is plastic better or netting? and how big should they be? and also, can one raise fry in them or is it better to remove the fry as quickly as possible? I've also heard people say that when they put their heavily pregnant fish in the breeding trap, it will give birth pretty soon. is that because of the extra stress or because it feels safe from the other fish?

The best thing to use for the fish giving birth is a trap, this is because it as a lower section for the fry to drop in to where nets dont have this so the fry are more vunreable to the mother.

Nets are good for putting fry as nets are bigger and the fry can stay in them for longer.

oh yeah, good point. I guess the fish is probably easier to observe in a plastic one too...
