how long do you have to wait before you can put pregnant guppies into one of these breeders

You must wait till the female guppy shows signs of giving birth on that day. These signs may include:

1. Staying near the heater
2. Hiding or looking for a quiet stop around the tank
3. Not eating
4. Stressed out

i have learned that if you put a pregnant fish in a breeding net, that it usually stresses out the fish. i have tried to use the breeding net twice and have been unsuccessful both times. when i let them out, within about 5-10 minutes there were fry in my tank. i then scooped them out and put them in the breeding net, i currently have 17 mollie fry. the fry when they are born will look for a place to hide, in the gravel or plants.

I have the best luck if i put her in the breeding net about a week before hand. But like mentioned by shadow this reaally stresses some fish out and they abort their fry. So although its more trouble i usually net the fry out of the tank if i can or set up a small breeding tank and move the pregnant fish over at any point in time. HTH

Yea...the female will usually give you a premature batch if she's too freaked out
