Hi

One of my neons is looking a little ropey. It has lost weight, sunken tummy, cloudy eyes (both) and they seem to be swollen (well a little bigger than the other ones!) it's a little colourless too. It seems to be feeding ok and swimming fine.

All the water parameters are fine, I've just done a 20 litre water change, should I be medicating the tank for internal bacteria? And what should I do with the neon?? :-(

Please help

Cloudy eye is often a symptom of pop eye, you should treat the neon with an anti internal and external bacterial med like Pimafix or "anti internal bacteria" like interpet. Also you should test your water quality for ammonia, nitrites and nitrates as cloudy eyes can come about from stress or water quality issues, how many gallons is the tank you are keeping the neon in and what is its stocking? How do you go about cleaning the tank exactly and how often in detail?

Hi

It's a Juwel Rekord 70 tank which is I think 54 litre (12 gallon, I think), I change the water once a week and vac at the same time.

Currently I have

3 Platies
5 Rasboras
4 Neons

I've tested the water Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 20-30. All has been fine in the tank, no sure what's stressing it, if that's the cause.

In my fish pharmacy I've got Pimafix, Melafix and an Interpet Internal Bacteria med, which would be best?? Is it too late if it's looking this way??

Even though the fish looks bad, its not too late- i would personally treat the fish with "anti internal bacteria" by interpet and some small doses of pimafix  . After you've finished treating the fish, whether the neon makes it or not, you should increase their numbers to 6 as being in too smaller numbers can be stressful for them.

Loobie as the fish lost weight through not eating.

Ok I'll add some internal bacteria med and pimafix.

Wilder, no it's not lost weight due to not feeding, it still feeds but look scrawnier (is there such a word??) than the others.

I'll treat them all and hopefully it'll make it. I don't really want to increase the numbers as they have only got this low due to fatalities! I think I'll be better off re-homing I think but I'll get over this bout of bugs first I think. ;)

I've just added 2.5ml of Pimafix which should cover 20 litres of water (it's a 54 litre tank) but thought it best not to overdose them, and I've added 5ml of Internal Bacteria which says covers 50 litres.

I hope I've done the right thing any other suggestions??

If the fish is very thin and has popeye could be looking at fish tb.

Fish TB

I work for the NHS but I don't think fish TB is the same and human TB?? :hyper: lol

The neon died......... :-(

I'm still treating the whole tank with the internal bacteria med and Pimafix just incase is this a good idea or is it a waste??

Think I'll have to start rehoming the Neons, anyone close to York that may want another 3 Neons??

Sorry R.I.P.
If it is fish tb sorry you can't rehome the neons they will all have to stay in the tank for a few months.
