I'm wondering if this could be neon tetra disease.

One of my neons has white patches on the back half of its body... its a large patch on the left side and slightly smaller on the right size.

A couple months back I had a neon with NTD which I euthanized and no one else seemed to contract it. But there is a difference this time... this current neon seems to show no other signs of being unwell, behavior and eating is as normal. My previous neon who had NTD had all the symptoms pretty much so I didn't have any doubts... this time.... not feeling as sure.

I will try and get a picture but I find it hard to get in focus pictures of my neons!

Best I could do...

False neon tetra disease maybe? I can see the white patches, maybe your fish is just pretending to be ok.

I noticed one of mine had this this morning. Currently in hospital tank being treated for ich :/ since adding the meds it has slightly faded the white patch. Just keeping my eye on the others in the tank now.

do you think its white spot decease?

I had to just google white spot disease as I hadn't heard that term before and it said that its the same as ich. Its definitely not ich.

Not sure... googled it and it said the fish would first stop shoaling and eating and later the patches would show up. My neon is shoaling fine, very active and eating.... that is what is throwing me.

I had something similar in a couple of my green neons a while back. I never did find out for sure, but I assumed it was bacterial and it cleared up with a course of Myxazin.

As other posters have said, definitely not whitespot/ich.

How is your neon doing? Mine was looking ok in the hospital tank, even when I was cooking lunch earlier it was swimming around, now however, it's led on its side on the substrate not looking happy at all :( I isolated it as didnt want the others in my 180 litre to catch whatever it may be. Booo, hope yours is improving?

No change, patches the same and still swimming around like nothing is wrong. I am thinking to try treating him topically rather than in isolation or treating the entire tank. I have great success doing that on another neon who had fin rot not long ago.

Mine died earlier today :/ think I will stock up on meds so I have a choice if it happens again.

I'm not really sure, its not fuzzy, its like that patch has lost the color.

well i think if its eating its fine, maybe just some fish discolouration from being scared or something

I don't think so, its too specifically blotches rather than overall color. I am treating him with fish meds for bacteria topically in hopes that helps.... a bit more stressful that way but I think overall better for my tank as well as not having him isolated and further stressed.

try using [background=rgb(246, 244, 234)] maracyn plus its a good med im planning on grabbing one myself soon[/background]
