Hi folks, I have been amazed to discover one of my battered looking neon tetras producing eggs today :hyper: , started this morning and is being heavily guarded by another fish. Other fish are going mad trying to eat them but some seem to have gotten away.

I always thought this was extremely rare especially for someone faitly new to this? So is there anything I should be doing at all or will they all get eaten anyway? I have a catfish and two corydoras so presumed chance of life was small.

lots of tetras will breed in a tank but very few eggs survive. They are sensative to light and high mineral content in the water. Basically in brightly lit tanks the eggs die and in hard water they die. Also in a community tank they usually get eaten.
