Ok so this morning I saw one of my neons looking alittle pale in color is this a sign of that neon tetra disease or anything bad like that?? At first I thought maybe it's just b/c I just turned on the light since sometimes their color is a little different, but then I noticed one of the others swim by and it was bright red and blue...is my little one dying? :/ Or am I just freakin out about nothing?

hey not related to your question but how does your trio of zebra danio's get along, thinking of getting some myself.
As for your question i would guess that your fish has come down with some sort of illness if the others appear fine. But i may be wrong of course.

Thanks for the reply...I feel bad b/c it is the small tetra which means he was one of the first ones I bought :( Anyway, you may not have seen my previous posts but I learned hard way 3 zebras in 10 gallon are ok, but they need more than 3 in a group. I had 1 big one and two smaller ones the big one always chased the other two and then started chasing my neons when the other zebras would hide. It would be best from the advice i got to get at least 5-6 if not more and there's room in my 10 gallon, but probably 15 gallon would be best for them b/c they are hyper little fish.

Neons will lose their colour temporarily due to stress or illness.

Check your water params, do a water change if neccessary.

Check for any rotting food or anything else out of place in the tank.

Check your fish for other symptoms. Flicking against rocks, white spots, finrot, bulging belly, bumps or lumps, cloudy eyes are good indicators.

Has he been eating with the others?

Are the other fish picking on him?

If you have a quarantine tank, it is a good idea to separate him in case he is sick, you don't want to infect the others.

Thanks for the replies, I'll check him when I get home. Since he is the small one he may have been picked on by my zebra, but no other symptoms as of yet. I'm always watching for ICH..It was a prob at the school I used to work at we lost a few fish I think to it back then if I remember correctly..Anyway thanks again!
