Neolamprologus Brichardi & Firemouths?

Can firemouths go with neolamprolugus brichardi if thewre are lots of retreats in the tank?
What other cichlids can go wtih firemouths, what about malawi cichlids?

I started a Tanganyika tank which included, among others 3 Brichardi's. 2 paired off and successfully provide a brood every 3 weeks however the 3rd Brichardi got beaten up badly by the paired 2 and thus I had to retrieve her hastily to my Community tank (70 Gal) which has softer water - HOWEVER, the single Brichardi is totally happy there and gets along fine with my large Firemouth (single) - no sign of aggression whatsoever from either. This kinda goes against the grain but sometimes you can be lucky - question is, do you want to risk it....!!!!

But I thought firemouths prefered higher PH in the same region as malawi cichlids, I dno if this will work as most rift lake species are really agressive...
