Okay, I have my 40 gal with guppies and mollies. Now I'm itching to buy a 55 gal. I'm unsure if I would like to get into Discus or Angels. What do you suggest? Obviously, cost is a factor. I do understand Discus are pricey and more particular about the water chemistry and such. I've researched both types of fish but still am unsure about which would be best. Any opinion is welcomed.

Hey! If you wanna direct me to anther type of fish that's cool too. I'm open to anything big.

Personally i think if you have never kept these fish before maby keep angels first. From what i hear they are a little more hardy than discus. Just an idea

propbably try angel fish first?? i think they are alot easier to keep than discus's.

What kind of fish go well with angels? I know that anything too small the angels would eat and also that angels are semi-aggressive.

Tiger barbs are to nippy how about if you get a 55g 7 or 8 black widow tetras and then you should get 4 angels and once a pair is formed return the other to and get more widow tetras. Because if you get angels you will have to get about 4 at least then once 2 angels have formed a pair return the other angels and if you don't wanted hundreds of babys (if the parents or other fish don't eat them first) take the eggs out of the tank to stop aggression with the angels to the other fish.

The black widow tetras are very pretty. Any other kind of fish would be compatible with angels? How about rainbows or rams?

Im pretty sure rams are compatible and as far as i know i have seen people post pics of their tank with rainbows and angels so they must be compatible. Maybe depending on the speices of the rainbow.
