ive got a 30L that i was hoping to use to house my new betta but was wondering if he would be ok with
2 female guppy
2 male platy
2 apple snail
1 cory
want to keep female gups apart from males so thats why i tought they could go in with him

no guppys, the tails are a confusion usually for the betta and he'll think that they are bettas and attack them. They are usually ok with platies I think I could be wrong. The cory needs some friends with those in a tank you are at about the stocking limit, the snails produce huge ammounts of waste for their size.

thanks but i have to disagree with the cory issue, guppies are female and are colourless, the tank at the moment has male gups in and they are going into my main tank but i dont want to buy new female gups to make the ratio and as you can see by my sig i dont want any more fry..at all

cories are shoalling fish they should be in groups of at least 4, go ask the in the catfish section.

zoekin8yg is right about the cories, while they "can" live alone, they are much happier in groups and they do shoal.
also, many reports have been writen that bettas andg guppies dont get along. the females would be better, but theres still a risk, again, it can be either or with the platies, some bettas wont bother the platies, others will.
the snails do produce a lot of waste, and good filtering is needed, which creates water movement which bettas dont like.
30L is only about 7g, not much room, i belive platies and guppies need atleast 10g.in such a small amount of room, there is a high risk of aggression from the betta.
i would go with either 1 betta, a few pygmy cories and maybe 1 apple snail,
OR if live bearers are what you want, a few endlers and cories, and an apple snail.
all that you have listed is over stocking the tank.
personally i would just have a betta, a few cories and an apple snail, maybe a few shrimps.

keep your hair on, im intitled to disagree, i didnt say they werent shoaling fish, my personal experience tells me different thats all

overstocked????no offence meant but you say over stocked, but youve just placed the platy and guppy with something else, regardless of where they dwell, and eldlers i would say defo not, the issue is that the guppy and platy are my main concern,

Honestly, I'd just stick with what you have there and not add a betta. That's pretty much well stocked for a 30L (if not slightly over stocked) right there, esp. since the snails produce excess waste (or so I've heard...no personal experience there).

i didnt quite understand your last post, i was trying to say 2 platies, 2 guppies, 1 betta, 1 cory and 2 apple snails would over stock your tank.
if you dont like endlers, fair enought, just a suggestion as they are smaller.
i would say no to guppies and platies with bettas, in bigger tanks if might work, but in yours probally not

My hair is firmly on, you can disagree, but it doesnt change the fact that they are shoaling and are happier in groups.

You don't seem to like any of our opinions. I dont think anyone is going to say having those all together in a small tank is a good idea

forgive me but i aint here to argue, its just that my original question that you answered was nothing to do with the fact of how many cories i had in the tank, im looking for an answer to my direct question not a self opinionated response

maybe because people care about fish, is why the brought up other issues, in my eyes its perfectly valid about the cories, sure the original question may not have been directly answered, but people are trying to help you out a little by saying cories belone in groups. maybe you should take our advice as we all seem to agree that cories need to be in groups and you are asking for too many fish in one tank, why ask a question if your not listening to the answer. and personally to bump a post after ive answered it, and others have answered it, just to get a different opinion is very rude, its like saying, i dont like what your telling me so im going to ask someone else, even though (and not to be bigheaded) im right, as are others.

I'd say no betta there, they don't do too well in a community tank. They do much better alone. That is the direct answer HTH :good:
