We just added a few new malawi's to our 125gallon and have been researching on the ID and only have seen similarities to some peacocks maybe.

Anyway, here are some pics...

In this one it's the one off to the left, toward the center-

In front of the yellow lab, on the right-

Front and center (posing, lol)

They dont seem to be aggressive all that much either.

Thanks!
:D

Looks like a Pseudotropheus Zebra (Orange blotch) aka marmalade cat.

My 1st thought was a Fuelleborni but the 2nd pic discounts that and a Trewavasae as the mouth shape is wrong. However the 1st and 3rd pic look exactly like a Fuelleborni.

Looking at it again, surely pics 1 and 3 are a different fish to pic 2?

EDIT- -They are different fish, the fish in pic 2 has far less egg spots than the fish in pics 1 and 3 so i'm pretty sure we have 1 zebra and 1 fuelleborni.

FURTHER EDIT - different fin colouration too, 2 seperate fish completely....was this a trick question? :D

You're right Ferris! We bought two of them thinking that since they were from the same tank at the lfs they were the same, and of course look sooo much alike. But after you pointed the mouth shape out I took a look at them in the tank, and they do have two distinct different mouths.

....was this a trick question?
Nah, it wasnt, but wish I had noticed the difference beforehand, lol.

Thanks for all the help everybody, it's nice to have at least an idea of what they are. :D

They are both nice fish and should get on OK so no harm done.

definately not peacocks though, hope the lfs didnt have them labeled as such, i'd think twice about shopping there again if so. :look:
