please do not laugh at me. I am aware that carnivores are meat eaters, and I aware that predators hunt down prey. So basically what the difference bewteen the two? according to the definitions wouldnt all carnivores (and omnivores) be considered predatory then?

as far as im aware those are two different terms, like saying whats the difference between a clown and a joke :)

looks like you got it down, predators hunt their food, carnivores eat meat.

i would say all predators are carnivores but not all carnivores are predators, for example, some may be scavengers.

Exactly, for example some catfish are carnivors which scavenge off corpses of other fish but could never be described as predatory as their jaw structure and body profile make it impossible to hunt down and eat other fish.
Predators are designed to hunt and catch other living creatures for their food and other creatures are their only food source.
Omnivors eat a mixture of meat and vegetable based foods usually accepting whatever is available and fits into their mouth.
