Need Some Assurance This Will Be O.k.

Hi,
In a previous post i said i will be draining my 125 Juwel tank in order to put it on the correct cabinet made for the tank..Fish will be going into 2x 40 litre bins filled with tank water . this move should take about 4 to 6 hours to do properly (WILL THE FISH BE O.K. IN THEM BINS FOR THIS LONG, 5 Zebra,8 Harlequins,3 albino cory cat fish 6 endlers) Next i would very much like to remove the juwel internal filter as for the last few days have been running along with it a 1200 tetratec filter...the internal will of course have all the bacteria in it.. If i take internal out while the tank is empty and put the media in the 1200 along with the media already in it will that be o.k.. (May have to cut the sponges from the internal in pieces in order to get them in)...JUST MORE CONCERNED THE FISH WILL BE O.K Could add a air stone in the bin if you think its needed..... Worried about doing this but has to be done as the tank is on a wobbly base,so the correct cabinet is a must....Regards Zac

Just as a afterthought could maybe just cut the silicone glue on the internal while its empty and leave it in the tank and do the filter change over sponges another time Might be easier that way ? Regards Zac

Your plan to house the fish for a few hours is fine. The thoughts on working with the new canister filter to use the old media make sense to me but I have no idea what your internal filter looks like so I don't know what will or will not fit if you remove it from that filter and put it into the Tetra-tec.

I am going from recent experience on that one. I had a 60 gallon spring a leak, drained it half way to stop the water flow, went out and bought a 55 to replace it and then removed the tank to replace it with the new one. The fish and filter spent the night and most of the next day in temporary housing like that with no troubles.

Wow Oldman47 thats even better news (Not for you sorry about the leak) But does assure me i will have plenty of time..By the way the sponges in the juwel internal filter are square ones so would imagine will be able to get several in the 1200...However as long as i can remove the silicon glue from i... will should need be.... able to just put a some gravel in the bottom and stand it up in the tank...Then at a later date will just be a case of switching it off and taking it our...Thanks very much Old Man47 you guys are the ones that give up new boys on the block confidence to have a go Regards Zac
