Hi All

I have got a 150 gal Brackish Tank ( Salinity 1.010). As my Tap Water is high in Nitrates I bought a RO Filter. At my LFS they told me that I have to add Osmo Prep Marine to replace the Minerals in the RO Water, then at my other LFS they told me that I don’t need to put the Osmo Prep Marine in the RO Water as for Brackish Water adding the Salt would be enough to replace the Minerals. Please could somebody advise me on the right thing to do. I don’t want to overdose the Fish with Salt and Minerals and it is expensive.

Thanks

Sabby

I doubt that you need to do anything to the RO water, the salt will contain all your minerals etc. If you're doing regular water changes they will accumulate in the tank over time.

SLC

I would say SLC is right on the money.

My only fear is whether the lower salt level will provide enough of a buffer. Try it without and keep an eye on the tank levels, but I would expect it to be ok. I f worst came to the worst, just cut a little tap water back in with the RO water before adding salt.

Thanks for that. I am doing a 40 gal water change every week so hopefully this will save me some money.

Thanks
