I have a 6 gallon talk. My plants are micro sword, four leaf clover, and what I think is java moss (It was a moss ball from pet co, not a regular moss ball though, it floats, tied onto a string and weighted with a led weight. It grows out and looks to me like java moss). I have a 2 watts per gallon of a t5 bulb (natural sunlight it says). I have gravel for a base, not plant gravel as I couldn't find any when i started the tank. I stopped my bubbles to avoid too much surface agitation. I took out my carbon (just read on here that it will take out my fertilizer, tell me if that's true). I dose with Nutrafin Plant Gro (also all I could find at the time, will get flourish when I can) this has nitrogen, boron, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum, and zinc. I have been dosing recently, but just took out my carbon now so I'm not sure if it was helping at all yet. I put in 1.5 ml.
My plants aren't doing so well. The moss is great. Grows like crazy, just trimmed it and used the scraps to wrap on rocks etc, see if it continues to grow that way. The micro sword was first yellowing and losing some leaves. Since dosing (with carbon in my filter) it stopped yellowing, now has patches on it that are darkening, seems to be dying, or not getting nutrients. The four leaf clover is doing ok, although coloring seems off. In the store it seemed to have a real silvery appearance on it's leaves, now they are bright/dark green, new shoots coming up but the tall leaves and stems are browning and I have to trim them off frequently. I also have some golden mystery snails in the tank (2). Wondering if they will eat my plants. Sometimes I see them on there, don't know if they are eating algae off leaves, or eating leaves. I do have a tiny bit of algae, small specks on my glass, some on the clover, and some on the micro sword.
Is there anything I am doing wrong? Anything I am doing right? What can I do to help these plants grow without spending much more money? My fish are all doing well and I hope to have the plants grow in nicely so they have more hiding places.
Any help is appreciated
