Hi
Have 2 4" oscars in a 4ft tank, going to take one back to lfs due to bullying.
whats your thoughts about putting a pair of convicts in with the remaining oscar?
ta

hello mate,,,you will prob find there fighting because the tank may well be cramped for one oscar let alone two,,,,atleast your rehoming one thats a good move :good:
whats the measurments of the tank please,,,,
if i was you i wouldnt add more cichlids,,esp not a pair of cons<get nasty in a pair!!!!

4'wide 20" high 14" deep its a vision 260
they have loads of room at the mo.

yes at the moment but they grow quick mate honest,,,,,,
so your tanks round 68us gallons which should be ok for one oscar and what about getting a senagal birchir? they will keep you amused and are very different to your avarage run of the mill fish

thanks mate but not into those - kids probably would be - not going to show them a pic.
have you kept oscars and convicts together?
Had oscars before with tinfoil barbs but they ate all plants and i like live plants, just don't want single oscar.

yes ive kept my oscars with a breeding pair of convicts and all hell broke lose<thats why iam recomending you dont>
but obviously it could work, would stand a better chance of getting a single specimen :good:

have you thought about hoplo catfish?
these are the fish i have with my oscars so i know there compatible and get along fine,,,,,also have silver sharks

ive gone through so many cichlid combonations and in the end ive found that its better to have single specimens of cichlids to a tank unless your into the 200g plus tanks.....

had a green terror<killed><jack dempsey and two oscars beaten soooo bad,,all fine now,,,,the cichlids i had are now spread out betweenthe family and my friends

A sevrum might work? mmm
I am keeping the oscar that is being bullied as the colour is better - red tiger - as apose to just red who is the aggressor (although he has more scars) may try a sevrum, think i know where theres an nice one thats a little bigger than the oscar.
want to do today hence the quick answer. ta

A single Convict would be ok, or even a Firemouth or possibly a blue acara depending on the aggression of your O

hehe thanks hun,,,,,yes hes my boy and i have to look after him, i kept avoiding going to the oceanarium,,,,,,so i trying to convince wife to go for it,,,not 100% yet but working on her

I have seen today a good sized male convict about 4" would he hold his own against a growing oscar?
bloke at lfs said he would do a swap oscar for convict, should i go for it?

what are the dimensions of your 4foot tank? if it is around a 75G then an Oscar and a convict should work IMO
