How much light is over the tank?
The diatoms suggest you are not dosing enough nutrients and the BBA suggests you have low/unstable CO2 (the amount of CO2 in the tank is not enough in comparison to how much light is over the tank).

You don't dose anything do you?

i have 2 T8 bulbs and sadly since i dont have a timer the tank gets light for about 17 hours of light

so its either lower the light or raise the CO[sub]2[/sub]

i used to but then stopped since i ran out and i didnt get more as i didnt see results, i do however have some fert pellets at hand.

i have only done one as of now but im going to begin doing 50-75% water changes every wednesday.

Just cut the lighting hours. 17 is a lot. Timers are pretty cheap. I paid £6 for 3. I'm only using 1

Yep, it looks like the excess light is not helping. Could well be the cause as well.

ok got a timer for one of the lights, there is one i could use for both but i cant find it

right now its set fr 12 hours, ill lower it over a few days to around what? 10-8 hours?


anything else i could do? anyone got their head around the original post lol

well now the lighting is down to 10 hours and im going to bring it down another four iver the next week but i can see a difference in the plants and there is less algae, but the diatoms havet been affected, im thinking of scraping the tank next water change to get rid of it.

the plants are doing great lots of new leaves but now theres a new problem.... SOMETHING is nibbling on my new plants!!! one of my posts farther up has my stock, who could it be??? i thought they didnt eat plants

oh yeah and my top amazon has one of those thingys that grow little plants, i got it to flower last time so heres hoping it does it again before something eats it





















also another quick question, my upgrade to 100 is around 85% confirmed (since my life will suck in GA gotta be occupied with something lol)

so would the swords and the plants i listed earlier:
Narrow leaf chain sword
Melon sword
Ludwigia (repens)
Anubias nana

think its possible?? i now ill probably have to have CO2 but what lighting? and would i need powerheads or something of the like?? i hopefully want to make a journal of my endevours i just dont want to clog it up with too many questions lol
