hey

i've got well over 25 fry right now.

and am use'n live brine shrimp for food. well i have 2 differant hatcherys. the one wher eu fill the cup with fresh tap water and plac eit up side down on the black box and the shrimp swim through the whole to the cup and then u empty the cup and re do the whole process over again. so yea this hatchery works great, i love it and i know how to use it.

now i have this other one. with a 2 liter bottle screwed into a base upside down with the bottom of the 2liter bottle cut off. with an air hose ran through the base to blow air inside the 2 liter bottle. well it says in order to feed fry or fish just use the air line to drain the shrimp into the tankkk. also says to shut off aeration and shine lite at the bottom of the bottle. well as soon as i shut off the air pump the line fills up with eggs and shrimp. i dont want the eggs. so how do i stop them form immediatly going into the hose?

thanks

I use the hatchery with a 2-litre bottle
I don't drain the water into the tank as that water is extremely salty and stinks, so I don't want it in my tank.

I set it up so the air line goes straight up to avoid water draiing when i shut off the pump. Then I point a light on the bottom of the bottle (where it screws in) The shrimp are attracted to light so they'll all go to the bottom). Then I use a pipette that came with one of my ammonia test kits and aim it for the yellow dots in the water. The egg shells are dark brown and usually float so I barely ever catch any.

I then flush out the pipette in a brine shrimp net and rinse them under the tap for a second to get the salt off and drop the net in the guppy tank!

The shrimp will live for about a day or so like this in the bottle.

I don't even bother with the airline from the bottom nonsense, I just stick it in the top, with a stainless steel nut on the end for weight. I do a batch evey 24 hours, just pull the air line & put a clamp light near the base. Watch tv for 5 or 10, then suck the bbs from the bottom with a turkey baster. I strain them through disposable coffee filters & rinse with fresh water. You really don't want that brine concentation going in your tank.

Here's a link to my bbs hatchery; http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=136880&hl=
