I have a extremly overstocked tank. I cant decide what to get rid of. Its ten gallons. It has

4 Guppies
2 Corys(1 Bronze,1 Peppered)
2 Mystery Snails
2 Plecos(1 Rubber-nosed,1 Albino Common)
1 Golden Wonder Killifish
1 Molly(Not Balloon or Sailfin)
1 Swordtail

Not to bad, just add another filter.

Really?!?! All I have to do is add another filter  What about the Albino Common Pleco???

Didn't notice that one just been to planet catfish and they haven't much information on that one, could remove the snails don't need them with the plecs.

Get rid of the albino plec. It's going to get to 12''. And I'd say the snails too. The rest, you might just be able to get away with with good filtration.

So If I get rid of the albino common, take out the snails and put in another filter my tank is alright?

If you get rid of the plec and snails, just keep an eye on water quality and you might not need another filter, but it always best to over filter a tank.

It would be benefcial to get rid of either the molly or the swordtail or both too, but TBH none of the fish are high waste producers, the cories eat leftover food....

If I were you I would keep the guppies and cories and the snails. From everything I've read your not supposed to keep any type of pleco in a tank under 20 gallons..30 gallons is perferred because they all produce so much waste.

The molly well I've seen ones that were 4 inches long so I don't think in the long run you'd be able to keep it in your 10 gallon. The swordtail same thing they get just as big sometimes getting 5 inches in length. It'll take a couple of years for them to reach this size though so if your planning on upgrading to a bigger tank in the future you might be able to hang onto them for awhile longer.

I'm not sure about the killifish but from what I've read and heard from other members they get quite aggressive.

So here's how it would look if it were my 10 gallon
4 guppies
2 cories (would add 1 more as they like to be in groups of 3 or more)
2 mystery snails

and if your planning on getting a bigger tank soon you could maybe keep the molly and swordtail but I'm not really sure they like to be on their own. I'd think they would be happiest with 1 male to 2 females but you can't fit more in your tank.

Sorry but I disagree :/ She has 2 plecos in a 10 gallon tank one of them being a common pleco which can reach up to 12-18 inches in length depending on the species. They are one of the highest waste producing fish.

edit: sorry to double post :*)

Elisabeth, I couldn't agree with you more. You've said just about everything I could have said, so I will just second and support everything you have said

I looked the bristlenose up and i'm thinking of cm instead of inches so sorry yes i agree to big for the tank.

Thanks for the Info Elisabeth83

I was going to move the snails out anyway. Im going to set up a tank so that all 15 of my snails can breed and they dont bother other fish. I will keep the Molly, Swordie, and the Rubber-nose pleco because Im probably going to upgrade my tank to a 30 or 40 gallon in a few months.
