Hello. I have a few questions concerning my mini-bow 2.5 gallon tank. I just purchased it the other day and now it's staying in my college dorm. I loved to keep fish back in highschool, and would have bought a bigger tank if my room wasn't so small. Since this tank size is pretty much only suitable for a betta, I figured that I would make aquatic plants the main attraction of this mini tank. The hood can handle a 15 watts, and came with an incandescent bulb. I am looking to change the bulb to a flourescent light. Does anyone know of any bulbs which would be comparable? I found this one: http://blujay.com/item/3-Watt-Torpedo-Comp...1120000-1406618 but am not sure if it would work or fit, and if it would be an adequate amount of light. Also, I will probably not be injecting c02 right away. Lastly, does anyone know of any good plants which can survive in this tank with the amount of light I will be providing? Thanks in advance.

I put a 10W compact fluorescent in my 2.5 gallon mini-bow. I wouldn't recommend it without CO2 however, my tank was an algae factory.

Cant help with your lighting, i have a nano cube with a halogen spot lamp bulb @ 20W it gives me 9WPG an with that amount of light i needed to add Co2. You on the other hand could use sechem excel, its basically carbon in a liquid form so no need for Co2!!

A I highly recommend a small hang on filter, will improve circulation and biological brake downs for plants and fish.

Plants that work for me are HC, java moss, hair grass and riccia (being lazy, cant be bothered with Latin names).

Some sort of nutrient rich substrate will be needed if your after success with plants and a good liquid fertilizer also!

Heres my nano...
