Hey all, i have been struggling with oodinium (??) in one of my tanks for a few days now.
I am looking at using a copper based medication now to help wipe it out, and i have three questions:

1. copper will kill snails, yes? (remove snails prior to treatment?)
2. have been using malachite green based broad spectrum med for last two days, after i clean this med out of the tank, should i give the fish a "rest" from medication for a few days before i introduce the new med? (all tank inhabitants still appear unstressed at this stage)
3. will copper kill my filter bacteria? and plants? Have checked The Wolf's excellent A-Z of meds, and can only find info on the effects of copper on snails.

for full details of scenario, please check my post "oodinium? guppy, fry and corys" in emergency.

Any thoughts or experiences with copper based medications would be gratefully received.

I just did a quick search on Oodinium and if my search was correct it's caused by Dinoflagellates.

I have been using a medication on my fish, plants and even those nasty pest snails and it doesn't hurt any of them.

It's called Ich Attack made by Kordon. It's completely organic and says right on the front that it treats Dinoflagellates.

I've had great success on Ich. You can also safely double the normal dose if conditions are bad.

If you can order it or find it in a store it might be worth a try.
