I've decided that I want to use DIY C0[sub]2[/sub] because the liquid stuff just isn't enough. But I have no expieriance and no idea how to keep it. I know how to build it, but I have no idea about monitering the stats, making sure it doesn't explode, replacing the yeast mix, etc. I won't be using a powerhead, I'm going to place the diffuser under the filter output so it is disperced. I'm going to be using thisguide to build it. Please bear with me, it's my first attempt, and I want some opinions and tips for setting this up. Here are some questions:

If I close the valve at night, how can I prevent the bottle from exploding?

How much will the pH drop?

How often must I replace the yeast/sugar mix? How will I know to?

Can I still use liquid carbon (for algae control) along with gas C0[sub]2[/sub]or will it be too much?

Will it stink?

Can I still use an air stone if it's set on low?

Thanks :good:

You can't don't close the valve.

Depends how hard your water is, but probably not too much with yeast CO2.

When it stops bubbling, anywhere between 3 days and a week from what I've seen.

I don't see why you'd need to.

Will it stink?

It's a sealed system, an it'll smell faintly of off beer if you do open it, but not badly.

Can I still use an air stone if it's set on low?

Yes, but it may dissolve slowly over time. A ladder would be better.
Thanks :good:

By air stone, I meant using an air pump with an air stone.
I'm planning on using a glass diffuser to get the C02 into the water.
