I need to treat my fish for white spot but unfortunately my filter uses the pads with the built in carbon granules in it. I already have increased the temperature to 84 and have lowered the water level to increase splash for more dissolved oxygen in the water. What should I do for filtration as I know I can't have the carbon in there? Should I just replace the pad with a sponge filter for the time I am treating or should I remove it altogether or is there some better way? Thanks in advance for any help!

You could keep the heats up at 84 or 86 depending on the fish. Then add salt. The carbon will not effect the salt. Heat alone can take care of most types of ich But the Salt will help speed it up.

Do a 80% water change take decore out and clean. Then make sure you get as much of the poop as you can out. Waterchanges manualy get the parasites out of the tank and lessen the load. Then treat
Do 1Tsp to every 5 Gal its best to desolve the salt in a cup first then add a little bit every hour or so just don't dump it all in at once let the fish adjust to the salt. When you do WC you will have to add the amount of salt you took out. SO its best to make sure you know how many Gal you are taking out at a time so you can add back the right amount of Salt. Also the only way to get salt out of the tank is with WC.

Good luck Ich is a pain. I'm treating my 100 gal because I did not keep my new fish in QT long enough and well I got the Ich. I low the water so there is only 70 gal I use Copper safe I love that stuff. I put 2.0 ppm of coppersafe and keep the temp at 86F. I have seen a huge differance in just 24 hr. The high heat and a 80% water change helped a lot. But I have treated Ich so many times over the years I kind of it down to an art now. Good luck. I have used the Salt and it works well with Heat.
