I have some fry and I think that a jug isn't a suitable home for them, I need something to hang on my 2ft tank, I was trying to use a clip and a lunchbox, but the clip wasnt strong enough. Please can someone give me a cheap, and easy way to make my own breeding trap?

Thanks,
Neal

well you could just buy a breeding net from your lfs they are only £2.50 not expensive, but work well

Hmm, I might go and buy one tommorow and keep them in the jug for the meantime. Shall I get a breeding box instead? Or do the fry fit through the gaps in them? Just I think 1) A breeding box would look better. 2) A breeding box would be more sturdy.

TIA,
Neal

I had an interpet one it had a spray bar and lid.

I have a small glass cube, I just need some way of heating it, I want to put it in my tank but how would I be able to do it without them escaping? (It doesn't have a lid).

Pair of tight with a rubber band to stop the fry getting out and the fish in.

Wouldn't the fish need to swim to the surface for oxygen though? Now, that may be a thought, my dog ripped up my mams pop socks so I made have a look in the bin! (Feels like a scavanger, but who cares)!
I was just worried about the fish needing to swim to the surface for oxygen! The water has a small airstone in it, but I doubt that would be much in a 2ft tank without them at the top, or is it perfectly ok?

TIA,
Neal!

Or some netting with small holes in it.

 I can't get them out of the bin otherwise I will be sick, the smell is horendous! And they may not even be in there as the bin was emptied a few days ago (rings up mam to ask if I can nick her tights) or is there any other materials? I would prefer to use another material but if there is no alternatives then...

Thanks,
Neal

If you have plenty of plants and ornaments in the tank why just not let them take there chances in the tank, be surprised how many survive.

I was going to earlier, but my mam started to complain when I mentioned it, pft!
Hmm, I think i'm gonna have to phone her up and ask if I can use her pop socks.
Any sucking up tricks?

Some lfs might take them off your hands, just give them a ring.

An old net will be fine as long as it big enough and the holes are small.

I'm not bothered about having them, it's just making a net for them, brb going to phone my mam.
Thanks,
Neal

She won't answer her phone, I have a better idea, could I put a coke bottle in the tank if I take the label off (thoroughly washed) and take the lid off, I could bury it into the sand, i've put it next to the tank and it's above the water level. Would this be ok?

Thanks,
Neal

It's up to you but it's not very big, plus you would still have to put a net one with a rubber band, good luck.

It would be 2 litres, bigger than all the other choices and why would I need a net and rubber band on it? I'll bury it in the sand to stop it falling over, and it will be full of water. I meant put it vertical so the bottle is upright and the neck is out of the water.
Thanks,

Neal
