Hello

i have 2 red rams. sex unknown. but for some reason one of them has been sitting on one of my plants that spirals up next to the heater. the fish is swimming very strangely as if the fish cannot swim properly and just sits in one spot for the last few days on one of the leafs... the fish is resting on it and doesnt seem interested in eating or anything.
the other ram happily swims around eating and following my other fishes.. any ideas???????

is the ill one spiraling about??- i had this just before mine died, it is coz their sevearly stressed and thus caught an infection

How large a tank, how long has it been set up, is it newly cycled or still cycling?

ph?
ammonia?
nitrIte?
nitrAte?

Other fish in tank?

its a 180litre tank with plenty of cover and hiding spots at the bottom of the tank which the ram never seems to use.. the fish struggles to swim and looks more pinkish underneath then it did before.

the tank has been cycled and the fish were fine up untill a few days ago. since i introduced new fish...

currently there are 2 black mollies, 2 angel fishes(small)
2 red rams one is sick, 6 praecox, 5 yellow barbs dont know exact name but there all small

4 corys n 3 khullie loaches.

tank temp is 27c

ammonia is reading less then 0.5 ( ive got one of those sea chem alert thingies)

havent got a reading for ph but nitrites reading 0, nitrates are reading less then 20ppm. my test kit doesnt allow for exact readings just gives in betweens. the other ram is fine and very active and eats all the time and swims about with the other fishes..

an ammonia reading will kill a ram, do a 50-75% NOW!!!

oh sh** will do one and let u guys know how it goes... so correct me if im wrong.. can they not survive the smallest amounts of ammonia.. and how come its only effecting one of them.. or do u reckon same will happen to the other one soon

rams are one of the most sensitive fish in the hobby.

a readable ammonia reading will start to affect them

although ammonia is present in all tanks but in undetectable amounts, it is harmless but once you can get a noticeable reading do a water change
