(i've had to redo this post 3 times now, fun times)

So i'm having a little trouble deciding which fish to stock my tank with, and i thought that maybe some people here may be able to help out.

I have 3 WCMM's at the moment (white cloud mountain minnows) and i'm planning on getting 3 more because i'm aware that you need to keep them in groups of at least 6.

My tank is 54 litres and i'm using sand as my substrate.

I'm wanting to get at least 6 cherry shrimps, possibly even more as well or possibly other kinds of shrimp too depending on what i can find in the local area, so i need to leave room for those and i need to get fish which are compatible with shrimp. I think i'll also be getting the 2 assassin snails as well if i can find them.

Here's the different types of fish that i'm considering:

- Cories, but i'm not sure which type of cory are the best to keep and i'm not sure about the minimum amount that you need to keep together- on some sites, i've read that you only need 2 or 3 but on others i've read that you need 4?

-assassin snails to get rid of my snail problem i'm having. Might get 2 of them if i can find any at all.

-rasboras/livebearers/guppies/tetras etc. All of those fish look okay, but i'm not sure if i'd stay interested in them. It also sounds as though livebearers breed very easily. I do however like the tetras, so i might consider a few tetras. Guppies are okay too.

So, does anybody have any suggestions? or possibly even other types of fish i might be able to get.

I would just up the WCMM group (upto 8 maximum) and get no more fish for this tank, 54l tanks get quickly spiral out of control.

Nobody the Goat is right. You're about at your stocking limit, so just go with 8 WCMM. If snails are a problem I might go with one assassin snail, just to eliminate the problem.

I disagree, I think that you could get a few assassins , a nice group of shrimp and a group of pygmy cories to go in there with six minnows but the minnows are cold water and the shrimp & cories tropical so it'd have to be a temperate tank about 23 degrees.

You'd have to keep ontop of your water changes but the pygmies don't get very large and won't add much to the bio-load. I wouldn't go with other cories though as they get too big for your tank.

Assassin snails will breed if more than one is kept in a tank and can easily overpopulate just as other snails do! And cherry shrimp are tons of fun as I know from experience, but they do prefer much warmer water. Corys might munch on baby shrimps too as they are very tiny.

I haven't found this to be the case, pest snails multiply extremely quickly and aren't as attractive as assassins anyway.
