I'm working on drawing myself a betta tattoo. I started coloring it not too long ago, but suddenly came to a snag when I realized that the colors I wanted won't work.
I wanted to give him colors that my betta Raj has, but since I want a water design behind him... all of the blue that would be in his fins would blend too much with the blue of water.
pic of Raj so you can see how much blue I had wanted...

So.. I need help picking colors!
I like the idea of red tips.. so think I'm gonna keep that.. but other than that. I have no idea.
I'd like multiple colors, but I dunno... I just have no idea what I want colorwise really.

I might still end up just going with his colors and trying something different for a background, but I really would like blue water....

I'd love any suggestions though!

Here is what I've done so far.
The pose is from one of Jaded's pics of her betta Bonphyre that she let me use *hugs*.

How do you do a tattoo with paper? Please PM me.

Wha?
I'm just drawing out the tattoo design that I want and will be going to a tattoo parlor to get it done by a professional :p

The way I would do it is a really bright red on the edges and then let the red fade into a light blu (for shading). The top blue you have is a very nice blue. I would shrink the gill size down a tiny bit. I like the eyes. The very top crown on the tail could be a bit bigger. Some shading on the gills might be a good idea. Just some ideas to think about :p

Thanks for the crits and comments :)
I think I will shorten up the gil a bit. It does go onto the head a bit.

Why not go with purple or violet and red tips? He could almost pass for purple from the picture above. I want a betta tattoo to go with my many tattoos, but hubby says no.
