hello all,

I just wanted to confirm really quickly on the addition of ammonia during a fishless cycle. Both my tanks have hit the nitrite spike, so now I am only doseing with 2ppm of ammonia and wanted to confirm that is correct. Also, both my tanks are clearing the 2ppm of ammonia in 12 hours, so my question is should I be dosing ammonia every 12 hours or every 24 hours. When I dose every 12 hours the nitrites just don't clear, but when I dose every 24 hours the nitrites have a chance to clear some, not completely but some, from 5 down to 0.5 or 1. I just don't want to mess it up. Am I fine dosing every 24 hours, or should I be dosing every 12 hours with the ammonia.

Thanks

Thanks OM. That is what I have been doing, and I noticed today that in the 5 gallon the ammonia is still clearing in 12 hours and the nitrites are now completely clearing in 24 hours (5 to 0). The 12 gallon nitrites are still taking longer than 24 hours to fully clear. I might have misread this, but at what point do I start dosing with 4ppm ammonia again or do I just stay with 2ppm dosing now untill the end?

I new I had mis read that. Thanks for the clarification. Hopefully just a couple of more weeks. I have been saying that for over a month now  but this time I think it might be true.

Thanks
