So, I am getting closer to the point in finishing my basement where I will need to start planning the aquarium for the new family room.
The room is big - about 20' x 25'. One wall has what will be a fireplace, and I'll have a TV over it, and I'm thinking that the opposite wall will be where the tank(s) go.
So here's my dilemma. At first, I was thinking about building a big uber tank - something on the order of 500+ gallons. But now I'm thinking about getting two 300G or 240G tanks. I'm thinking of making one a freshwater tank with heavily planted areas, sandy areas and a rocky area. The other, I'm thinking about going with a saltwater reef. I've never done SW before, but the reef life is really amazing.
I'm uncertain how it's going to look, though, to have a SW and FW tank next to each other like that. What do you think? Should I put them in different parts of the room?
