Hi Guys, two of my Koralia have developed a very annoying hum and I dont mean smell :p one is so annoying I have had to turn it off and the other is getting close

Has anyone tried one of these babies:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AQUA-MEDIC-NANOPROP-5000-NANO-REEF-MARINE-POWERHEAD_W0QQitemZ200536362273QQcategoryZ46308QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp4340.m263QQ_trkparmsZalgo%3DSIC%26its%3DI%252BC%26itu%3DUCI%252BIA%252BUA%252BFICS%252BUFI%26otn%3D15%26pmod%3D330506807391%26ps%3D63%26clkid%3D6015843382405768893

or does anyone have any koralia magnems they are after selling for a decent price? Or maybe you have a better idea? (No Ben, not a vortech  )

If your just looking for one quickly and fairly cheap what about these

http://www.allpondsolutions.co.uk/aquarium-wavemakers-3131-0.html

Ive never used them so cant say how good they are but i know there external filters have a great reputation for being cheap but great quality.

Thanks, they look interesting, might be worth a punt just to try them out :good:

Any other ideas guys?

I have the sun sun ones and I honestly can not fault them. I have 3 x 6000 lph and 1 x 3000 lph. The one 6000 lphI got for free as a replacement for the orientation adaptor that was missing from 1 package! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AQUARIUM-FISH-TANK-6000L-H-DUAL-POWER-HEAD-WAVE-MAKER-/200535990873?pt=UK_Pet_Supplies_Fish&hash=item2eb0e06259#ht_3678wt_989

Blow me down, that is a silly price............ are they noisy?

Seffie x
No they are almost silent. Honestly, for the price you really cant go wrong with just trying one. I have a spare 6000 lph if you want to try it out.

Ive used a sunsun in the past. It was hot and a in efficient but it did a job and was silent! Korallia magnums are really good though seffie!

Thanks for the offer, thats very kind of you, think I will buy one to try and then keep as a spare :good:

Yes, I have to agree with you, was also looking at the new aquamedic powerheads - anyone ever bought one?

I've been using one of these in my 100G Malawi tank for 6 months and it's silent and working just fine.

5500lph pump

and I am using this in my MT50 nano marine tank.

750-1400lph adjustable

I have looked at the Koralia ones hands on and can't see any difference between them quality wise and the power consumption is lower on the Newave ones.

i also run 2 sun suns and a koralia in my smaller marine and the sun suns are quieter and tbh equal / better than the koralia i have :good:

Would a Hydor Magnum 8 be too powerful for your setup? They are rated at 12500lph.

I bought one new in September for a cracking price of £106.21, only to lose three fish (two Humphead Glassfish and a baby Leopard Bushfish) within ten days of installing it and only activating during daylight hours. Since then, it has been decomissioned, as it was the most probable cause of death (shame, as most fish in my 566l loved it, especially the Barilius).

If you are intrested in it for £60 plus p&p, get in touch ;)

Glad it has gone to a good home where it can be safely used in a marine setup!

Here's an old clip of how the Magnum 8 worked in my 5-footer...

As you can see most of my fish down there loved it (also quite sad seeing what was the thriving group of Yellowtail Congo Tetras before they whittled down to three as a result of jousting injuries, plus my Opsarius pulchellus duo that both suddenly died unexpectedly within 12 hours of each other).

Just spent a heavenly five minutes or so watching some of your videos - you have some interesting fish :good: Hope you have a nice armchair out there in the garage or workshed?
