So I got in an order of plants yesterday, they were shipped 2-3 day shipping and sat in a mail truck all day yesterday, we are the last box on our mailmans route. It's in the high 80's now in Texas.

That's the background...I found a nerite snail on the clump of micro sword which wasn't very wet. I popped the snail in my betta tank and in went right up into the lid and hasn't moved.

Is that normal for nerites? I have only had apple snails.

Just wondering if its probably ok. I wouldn't mind keeping it, we were going to order a bunch of snails in a month or two anyway.

Maybe the betta is picking on the snail.
But that's some awesome-looking shell it has. O.O

It shouldn't be the water. It's only been 4 days since the last water change. I'll do a water change today just in case, but it should be fine.

I do 50-60% water changes on my betta tanks, mostly because it only takes about 3 mins start to finish. Keeps their water tip-top.

Nerites are well known for making ill-advised 'breaks for freedom'. It's probably perfectly alright, but you'll need to make sure you have very tight covers on your tank!

I'd get some of those just to creep my mother out. >: )

Thanks I feel better. I did a HUGE waterchange just now anyway.

Nice looking snail.
They will climb out so a lid is a must, they're also poop machines, at least my zebra one is

That tank has a tight lid. :good: I won't leave it in this little tank forever. I'll toss it in my 46 or 75g in a month or two if everythign is sorted there. Thanks for the thoughts everyone.

It did travel for 2 days in hot weather in a dry-ish environment so it might be shell shocked.
