Hi,

I've just introduced two Kribensis into my community aquarium. One male and one female. The male is very aggressive towards the female but leaves all the other fish alone.

Any idea what's up? There are plenty of places to hide as the tank is well planted. Will they settle down or should I be worried?

Cheers,

Kev

Generally itll be the Male harrassing the female to spawn

Watch it close, it may be a couple of things..either he is being agressive to spawn, he is being territorial or he is bullying. This happened to me, but it was bullying, everytime the male saw the female, it would run up and head but it in gut, so i brought him back to my lfs.

They've only been in the tank 24 hours so I'm not sure they've established territories yet.

There are moments of peace. The male will creep up on the female and sometimes nudge her then chase her and sometimes will be quite affectionate.

I'll be keeping a close eye on them I think.

I think that dither fish would help and that the male is trying to persuade the female" by that I mean beat her up" until she mates with him.
