Natural Gravel + Eco-complete

Right now Im in the process of cycling my new 55 gallon tank, Im planing to put 2 Amazon Swords and 2 Anubias Nanas in it. I bought 2 25lb bags of natural gravel. Im wondering if I can mix the Eco-complete substrate with the gravel if so how much should I mix or do I have to us 100% Eco-complete? thanks.

Put down your Eco-complete substrate first then put your gravel on top

no i mean is putting normal benine quartz gravel on top beneficial?

roots grow down into the EC, so it will benefit the plants more, but it wouldn't hurt to mix them together.
