My 20g planted's wisteria has attracted some ghastly brown hair algae. Although easily removed with a tooth brush and a gravel vacuum, it's a horrible eye sore. It's spread to the Brazillian Pennywort and the Java Fern...
Stats:
1x T5 Daylight bulb with reflector (8hrs on)
Sand substrate, with Eco-Complete fertilizer underneath
Alternating dosing of 1ml of Potassium, Phosphate, Nitrogen and Micro ferts daily.
Along with 3ml Excel
(no ferts or carbon on Sundays, where a 50% water change is done)
I already know what causes it...My cruddy Rena filter's powerhead has poor flow and can't reach those plants. As well as the filter steadily breaking down into disrepair. I will be getting a Fluval 206 soon and installing a proper spray bar to equalize flow and nutrient distribution.
In the meantime, I was wondering about doing a bleach dip for the wisteria and pennywort.
I'm not sure how to do it though...tips?
Thanks
