Nanochromis Nudiceps Wild Caught.

I believe you can mail order them from aquatics websites if your in the UK I know you can ge them off aquarist classified

Ok well im not in the UK lol.

But im still gonna try to find them.

How long do i keepthe leaves in the water?

Pictures will be up in the after 1 over here and over there they probibly be up at 8 or 9

it should be quite easy to get hold of indian almond leaves in the us, sometimes called cattappa leaves. i find they last longer with less flow, with more flow it tends to make them disintegrate faster, you will just have to take visual accounts of there state and change when you see it falling apart.
looking forward to seeing pictures.
what sort of price did you get them for there? without being cheeky!!

thats a very good price if they are true nudiceps.
a lot of places/people sell the parilus as nudiceps, parilus aren't as rare and not as expensive. if they are nudiceps you will see a couple of slight differences from the parilus in the bottom picture you put up.
the fish in the first picture you put up is Nanochromis transvestitus, very nice fish.
this is a nanochromis nudiceps, you can see differences.

look forward to the pictures!

Ok ! they have a nice blue kind of tint on there scales!.

Are you guys gonna stay on for pictures?
They'll b e on in about 3 1/2 hours if they come in.

Thats cool because ill need help to see if they are palarius or nudiceps.

I hope remeber to ask her what the PH is where they were caught but she probiby doesnt know anything because this is the first time they were on the order list.
But wil still ask.

well she would have to of ordered them from a wholesaler, she should be able to contact them and they should know.
if not its not to worry as they will live and breed in anything from a ph of 5.0 to 7.0, i found 6.5 worked well, its only so you can replicate the water where they was caught as that would obviously be the perfect option for them.
just try and get as close to 6.5 as possible, give them a fine substrate as they will dig pits and they will struggle with big stones, though they will still try and move stones that are too big sometimes causing damage top themselves.
add wood but try and get lots of thin branch style bits as opposed to a couple of chunky pieces, and when you get hold of the leaves just drop a few in and they will find their way to the bottom once they are soaked.
you can see from the picture they are easily distinguished from each other , especially if you have them sat in front of you.
hope they get there on time!

Ok well i got 2 peices of malaysian driftwood from petland and last night my kribs were trying to eat it.(there weird)
I do have rocks but they have smooth edges so they hopefully won't get hurt.

Ive got gravel(even know i wanted sand)but its pretty small so my nudiceps could probibly pick it up.

Do they have big mouths?

yeah they have funnily large mouth's, you can see from the pictures they have big lips and use them like shovels! you don't necessarily need sand but as long as its no more than a couple of millimetres it should be fine for them to move about.

Ok well i got them today but one of them i think is sick(im thinking female)
Shes breathing heavy evedrtime and just sitting there.
They're really nice and will have pictures up tomorrow.
What can i do?

being wild caught they will be more sensitive to travel, it may just be exhausted, you should ensure the water is well oxygenated and leave the light off for a full day, they will feel safer and settle in better.
hope alls well. Dave

I am getting a refund for the dead one and ordering another.
