Name The Fish Please

hi all

after my lost of 11 fish ( the one i told you about), some one told me to recycle the tank

so i started by catching these fish from a water place ( coz i dont want to buy and lose them )

i dont know any thing about these fish except that they live in water

so you tell me i think they are scare of light
i feed them bread and they liked it but i feel that they dont want to live in my tank and they are always looking to the gren pic behind the tank ( back ground)

so i am thiking to set them free again and buy the fish i want

so my questions are

1- what is the name of the fish?

2- can i keep the water after i set them free and for how long ( since the water has the good bactiria )

and these fish are lookes like the fish lives in ponds

They are an Aphanius species of European/Mid Eastern killifish. Quite possibly Aphanius dispar or Arabian Killifish.
Whilst I'm into Killi's in a big way (mainly Rivulus sp.) this niche area is not my bag.
Contact ricefish (Nigel) on this forum as this is well within his domain.
He should be able to supply you will all the relevant information you desire.

Maybe they don't like carbs, lol. You should let them go and get some fish from a store. Stick with feeding them fish flakes instead of bread as they need a complete nutritional diet.

They look like Aphanius dispar.they require animal protein either from livefood or carnivore flake/pellets
was the water salty where you caught them?as mine do like it on the salty side

they are fresh water fish

they dont want to eat the fish food so i feed the bread

but soon they will go back to nature

Very responsible of you.they are beautiful fish but not the easiest to keep
do you have many near you as Aphanius are disappearing in most of their natural habitats?

yes we have alot of them there

and some of them were very big like 15 cm but cant catch some

and i will set them free soon
