I'm new to having a planted tank.
A few hours in fact.

I've bought three plants today and wondered if you guys could name them.
Are they easy to care for?

Thank you.

One on the left is an Echinodorus spp. (it's got emergent leaves right now, as it adapts to life underwater these will change and a more accurate ID will be easier...for me at least lol) , really does best with fertilisers of some sort, so I'd start dosing liquid ferts or put some root tabs at its base.

The middle one looks like Egeria nais but with some Cabomba caroliniana in the bunch too? - both pretty easy plants, but you should replant them properly, just separate all the stems and plant them an inch or two apart from each other.

Egeria nais isn't really a common one to find at the lfs...so I could be wrong, but thats what it looks like to me.

One on the right is Vallisneria spiralis, again, very easy just needs planting properly, the bunch should consist of several individual plants.

Throw away any lead weights/foam that came with them, and put your lighting on a timer if it's not already to give the tank maybe 8-10 hours of light a day.

Thank you. I bought the plants from pets at home. They were three for £7.50 but I suppose I got one free.

hi that one in the middle is a three in one pets@home special, it has camomba, elodea, and i think the other leafy one is baby tears but i could be wrong. the heavy thin leafed one is camomba, the other simular (looks like a feather duster) is elodea. I also bought this three some, but separated them, and in 2 weeks they have doubled their length...nearly filled the top of a 48L aquarium. good luck with yours x

the pne on the right of your tank looks like the water onion I have in mine...if you smell an oniony smell it probably is, and it grows really well, i have a lot of daytime light hours ( 12hrs min) and moonlight on otherwise. I lost my previous plants by turning lights off in the night, so the moon light bulb seems to be helping. Not sure if the other plant is a young amazon sword...also a p@h special. xx

Thank you. So it looks like i've got 5 for the price of 3. =)

Any tips to keep them looking healthy?
I've bought and added 'Plant food' from pets at home. It doesn't have any ingredients on the bottle. It says to add every 14 days.
I usually leave the lights on around 8-10 hours a day but turn them off for the remainder.

With the vallis, you will find the bunch has a few separate plants, as three-fingers said. What I did with mine was separate them and plant them in a group but separately. They then send out little runners which sprout new plants. You can then get more out of your one bunch, by having them spread over a larger area.

They will propagate as they are, but I'm just saying you can cover a little more ground if you separate them. I have done this with most of my plants - you always find there's more than one actual plant in each bunch you buy, so you can separate them and grow two or more separately if you want.
